Can brain fog improve after starting HRT?

Memory Problems Asked 1 week ago 1 expert answer

I keep losing my train of thought and cannot find words I normally know. Would HRT help with this, or is it something else?

Brain fog is reported by many women in perimenopause and often improves once other symptoms are better controlled. Research on hormone therapy and memory is still developing, so results vary and it is not a guaranteed fix. A review of your sleep, mood and thyroid function is a sensible first step.

Is it worth asking my GP for a thyroid test?

Yes, it is a reasonable request and a quick test to rule out a common cause.
