Since my periods stopped I wake up drenched most nights. Is this normal, and is there anything that actually helps?
Night sweats are one of the most common symptoms during the menopause transition, and waking drenched is a recognised pattern. Keeping the bedroom cool, using breathable bedding, and avoiding alcohol and hot drinks close to bedtime can all help. If symptoms are disrupting your sleep or daily life, book a review, as effective treatment options, including hormone therapy, can be discussed with you.
Keeping a simple two-week diary of night sweats can show patterns, for example links with stress, alcohol, room temperature or certain foods. Bring it to your appointment, as it makes treatment decisions quicker and more accurate.
